Jose Carreiro
1931 - 2009

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our husband and father José Carreiro peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on November 22, 2009 at 2:00p.m.

Left to mourn are his wife M. Conceição; sons Frank (Brenda), Fernando (Nancy); Paulo (Cheryl); daughter Bela (Lyle); 8 beautiful granddaughters and 1 great-granddaughter; brother Octavio Carreiro (Gabriela); sister Isabel Carvalho; and many nieces and nephews.

José was born in San Miguel Acores, Portugal where he met and married his wife of 53 years. He moved to Winnipeg with his wife and 4 children in 1968. He worked at the Health Sciences Centre until retiring at the age of 65.

The joy in his life was Sunday dinners with his children and grandchildren, and going to the Lake with his wife in the summer.

Vigil prayers will be said at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2009 also at the Immaculate Conception Parish with the Rev. Fr. Wladimir Porreca the celebrant. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Carreiro, Fernando Carreiro, Paulo Carreiro, Lyle Oswald, Breno deLima and José Pacheco.
