I am so sad to say goodbye to Eugene, friend of my youth. I knew Eugene in undergraduate days and after, when we worked together for Gary at Portage. My memories of Gene are of a funny, focused, super confident and scary smart guy - always fun to be around. I think fondly of those all nighters in Jim Gray's rat lab at exam times. And the summer commute to Portage, often in the Corvair! It was great to re-connect with him (after 40 years!) about a year ago, if only virtually. Rest easy, old pal.

My condolences to close friends and family. I worked with Gene many years ago now but remember Gene as an intelligent, kind, sociable and caring person.

I have many fond memories of Gene from graduate school. We studied togrther PhD exams and worked in Gary,s lab. He was always enthusiastic and full of fun. I remember him having a pet Racoon at one point. He confined it to the bathroom as it was going through his cupboards and emptying the boxes. When he put it in the bathroom it dug junk out of the drains. He was very fond of his triumph sports car and his gigantic sound system. I will miss him he was a great guy.
