With his loving family by his side, Delmer died peacefully on April 28, 2017, at the age of 98.
Husband of Shirley (nee Delapenha), father of Dana (Mark), grandfather of Cher, Alicia Nicole, and Jackson Mark, father-in-law to Lynda Dobbin-Turner (Cecil), brother to Vaneen (the late Fred Hooey) and Bernice, as well as uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Delmer was predeceased by his first wife Doris (nee Duchene); his son Gregory Vanston Dobbin; his parents Vanston and Hattie; his brothers Lloyde (Muriel) and Gervin (Alma); and his grandson Shane.
Delmer was born in the Municipality of Victoria, Manitoba, on October 9, 1918 and attended Ladysmith and Treherne Schools.
After service (1939-1945) in the Canadian Signal Corps and the Canadian Air Force, where he was awarded pilots’ wings, Delmer attended the University of Manitoba and Teacher’s College. After a career of teaching and farming, he enjoyed many years of retirement.
Respecting Delmer’s requests, cremation has taken place and no formal funeral will be held. Interment will take place at a later date at the Woodlands Cemetery, Treherne, Manitoba.
